Gilbert Frenn has been in the photography business for over 30 years. Gilbert started photographing weddings in 1975, quickly realizing his passion for photography extended beyond just wedding photography. He opened his first studio in 1976. Since than he has expanded his photography to family, children, high school seniors, and business portraits.

Jamie came on board in 1984. She works closely with their clients through the home interior and framing department of their studio. She also does all the creative artwork on each portrait, she works closely with the clients that are looking for something unique; creating for them that one-of-a-kind portrait.

The studio known as The Photographer was started in 1992 at 1100 Kane St., La Crosse by Jim Thiele a local photographer for better than 25 years. By 1996 he was looking for more space and better visibility. At that time the old Bethel Lutheran Church building went up for sale. Jim wasted no time. Bought the building and with a little bit of remodeling and renovation it became the home of the photographer. The church was built in 1889 and his plan is to keep the building as original as possible on the outside; however it is rather difficult to maintain the same level of originality on the inside and operate the studio. We’ve made no more changes than necessary.
